What could be better than a proper old fashioned Iced Bun, they have to be one of our favourite sweet treats. The base bun for these is made to a very old fashioned enriched dough recipe.
We start by making a slow fermented a sponge using our sourdough starter, just as it was done in the rural bakehouses of the Victorian era. Then the next day we set to work and turn it into an enriched dough with eggs, butter and sugar. After a short prove they're shaped before a final prove and a trip through the oven. Once the Buns have been baked and cooled they're adorned with delicious traditional sweet white icing.
All that's required is a cup of tea and five minutes peace and quiet to savor every mouthful.
