Scotch pies are one of those things that everyone has a little soft spot for. We enjoyed our first one many years ago on a Scottish butchers visit and fell in love with them immediately.
The traditional filling was minced mutton, highly spiced with pepper and mace, although nowadays a lot are made with beef, we make ours with a blend of beef and lamb for a more traditional flavour.
The filling is placed inside a shell of hot water crust pastry, and topped with a traditional light pastry lid ready for you to bake off at home.
