Now who doesn't love a bacon sandwich?? Well what could be better than the 'ultimate' bacon sandwich. We've put some serious research into this and think we have got it absolutely bang on.

It's the perfect gift, great as a house warming prezzy or just for a treat for yourself. 

A proper bacon sandwich has to be in white bread and we think our Old Fashioned Milk Loaf is just the job, made by slow fermenting a white bread dough that has been made completely with milk instead of water..... it's also enriched with a little butter for good measure! All this dairy goodness creates a beautifully soft loaf that has an almost sweet note to it, perfect for sandwich making!

Continuing with the old fashioned goodness, it had to be our famous Treacle Cured Middle Bacon for the star of the show. A few years ago Jim came across a recipe for "Black Bacon" from the West Country, rumoured to be a very old recipe it uses a brine made with black treacle and nutmeg for a beautiful sweet note. Legend has it, this was the the base for the famous Dukeshill Ham Co cure, but that's just between us and you! The cure is made using sea salt and unrefined sugar as well as the treacle and nutmeg and the bacon is immersed in it for 5 to 7 days before being aged for another week to reduce the moisture content. There's none of that white froth when you cook it just tasty bacon and because it's cured as middle bacon with the rind there's the joy of crispy bacon rinds as well! 

A bacon sandwich wouldn't be complete without sauciness and for this we've selected Tracklements Quintessential Brown Sauce and for the ketchup lovers Tracklements Proper Tomato Ketchup, both match perfectly with the Treacle Cured Bacon.

Now we know there's a big debate.....butter or no butter, so we've popped in a gorgeous pack of Abernethy Salted Butter for good measure and we promise not to judge you either way!
